I just bought a PS3 Slim, and I have to say, I have backed up my old PS3 Fat, and tried to get my game saves from there to my new PS3 slim, and no dice!

This is probably the only game save data that is copy protected, based on your individual PS3. Every PS3 has a code in it, that allows content to only be accessed through that PS3, and that one ONLY. I was pretty sad, because I played Demon's Souls for over 10 hours, and bought a new PS3 because my old one YLOD, and can't get my old SL70 characters back.

So if you are considering playing Demon's Souls, make sure you don't have a FAT PS3. If that thing gets the yellow light of death, your hard earned game save is toast. I know, sadly, its happened to me, and it will happen to you.

NOTE: If you replace your HDD, you will also lose your game saves. Keep in mind that HDDs have a 5 or more year life span, so if you don't mind shelfing this game after you beat it, and never seeing your high level character, after your hard drive dies, go ahead and get this game. Otherwise, playing 40 hours of a game, to have your hard work vanish, doesn't seem worth it.

How to play Starcraft 2

This will be a "no duh" for those of us that have played the game before, but if you are just getting into playing this RTS, this might be useful to you, if you wan't to quickly kill your enemies.

First, when you begin, you have your base, your gatherers, and that's it, unless you are playing a custom game.

The first thing you wan't to do, is immediately gather minerals, then create new gatherers at your base, and make them gather, first thing, until you need to build new supply depots, pylons, or Overlords. When you have built your unit supply support, then you can work on your defense. You need to build your, barracks, spawning pool, or gateway. For Zergs, their main creating place, is their base, so Zergs need to create another base, and start up with a queen. Then you can create your extraction building for Vespine Gas. At any time, at your gathering base, you should not have more than 12 units gathering minerals, or any more than 3 units gathering vespine gas per gathering building. If you notice, when you have too many units gathering, the other one just sits there, and waits for the extra one to leave, then they gather. This is not economical.

You will always see the computer follow these steps, if you play against the "insane" A.I. level. One way to learn the best way to build, is to play against the "Insane" A.I. level, and save the replay when they humiliate you, then study their moves, and that will be the best way to build during a competitive fight.

I noticed that playing as Zerg, the A.I. does not even focus on Zerglings anymore, they move straight onto Roaches, and I have seen this work better against Protoss, and Terran. Roaches can put out over 10 points of damage, while zerglings only dish out 4. The insane A.I. pumps out 2 bases, spawning pool, then a Roach Warren, then they start mass producing Roaches to come to your base, and wipe you out.

The Protoss and Terran, use similar building techniques, and I noticed that both Protoss and Terran start building 2 barracks, or Warp Gates. This is so they can mass produce troops. Your protoss base can speed up unit production, so use it. Well, I just got mentally tired, trying to think deeply, haha. Anyone else have something to say about how to beat up your enemies? If you have a better method, please share. =)

vs

First off, this is just my opinion, but the interface in Raptr.com sells me right away. It tells you who is playing, when they are playing, what they are playing, gives you detail, and links you to the gamers profile, when they are playing.

That factor of Raptr by itself is what would make me join in a heartbeat. I have never seen a website with an application that tracks your game play, and displays it on the website, except for Xfire. I did some research on the owner of Raptr, and he used to be a video game champ, with games ranging from Doom, to Quake. The owner was pretty rich already, but wanted more. He pulled funding from some more people, to add up to over 10 million dollars, and created Raptr. I also learned that he was a programmer at Xfire. This explains how he knows how to link players to the games they play, and have a close partnership with Xfire.

Playfire on the other hand, only seems to brag about how many gamers they keep collecting, in the text on their home page. They show no content for games in the home page, they just show how many members they are collecting, and the features in their site. If you have to brag, you are boosting your own self esteem. I had a friend like this, and that is all he does all day, is brag about how much money he makes, but has nothing concrete to show me.

Lets take a look at member profiles. Playfire shows a pretty cool theme system, and your profile allows for some HTML in the About Me area at the top of your profile. It displays your Networks for PSN, XBOX and Wii, but does not link to them, so gamers can see your detail. The PSN gamercard for Playfire is inaccurate, because you can select platinum for every trophy in PSN. The Xbox Live data, and all the rest are accurate. Playfire also displays the Genres you play, but does not link to them, so members can view your Genre likes. There is a display on your profile, for owned games, and loved games, but the bookshelf interface is really huge, and can stretch your profile. The Setup feature is pretty cool, since it can tell other members what kind of computer you have. All in all, the interface at Playfire allows a member to lie about achievements, and game experience. So if someone hooks up with a noob, they will never know until they fail badly.

Raptr's interface also shows gamertags in profiles, but also links to your gamertags in XBL, PSN, Steam, and more. The platforms in a profile shows a graph of how many PC, or console games a member has, plus links you to view only those kind of platform. This is a quick way of viewing a members games, without thumbing through their profile, as you do in Playfire. Although Raptr does not use HTML to customize any aspect of your profile, they do allow pre made themes, and a live feed, showing your recent gaming activity in your profile. Your recent games played, and your recent achievements from Xbox, and steam, show up in your profile. I liked the Raptr interface so much myself, that I created a link to Raptr in this website, in the Extras Menu.

So in conclusion, I like Raptr better than Playfire, in my opinion. The interface is more engaging for gamers to see what others are really playing, and there are links in your profile, linking to games you own in a platform that other gamers might be interested in.

=)

Windows XP vs Vista Updates

I am posting this thread from my laptop right now, because my main PC is installing updates for Windows XP. It has been installing those updates for 1 hour now.

I had a favorite game ready. I pulled out Two Worlds, slipped off the cover, and set it side by side with its sleeve. I restarted my main computer, from Vista, so I could chose XP to run this game, since I originally installed it in XP.

XP was lagging from the start, after I restarted my Dual Boot OS to XP, so I decided to take a shower, while it booted up. Before I stepped in to the shower, I saw it said it was installing updates, so I waited until it finished, then clicked the start menu to shut it down, so it could do its thing while I shower. I showered for a long time, came out and it said "Installing update 3 of 18". WTF!? Vista would have been done, while I was shampooing! When I started typing this, it says 4 of 18, and now it says 7 of 18. I don't type very fast, so this is sad on XPs part.

Before I sat down to vent on this issue, I slipped my game back into it's sleeve, because I knew it would probably be done updating, by the time I have to go somewhere. This has happened to me many times.

XP used to be my favorite OS, but now it is really slow compared to Vista, and takes forever to update. I heard Windows 7 is even better. This happens to me a lot, and even though Vista almost plays all my games, I still switch to XP to play some old school games, and get disappointed from the lag.

I would totally abandon XP if Vista could play every game in my library, but for now, I have to use Vista, and grit my teeth every time I wanna go old school, for fear of the infamous Update.

Whew! That feels better, but the OS issues remain the same, for old school games and old external devices. One I really miss playing is Thief.

I see myself getting distant from PC games now... I noticed that console games are a faster loading, less crashing option for me. Who likes to turn on the computer, wait for the load, type in your password, and then insert the CD, and auto start your game. The problem with PC, is that it crashes or freezes more than console games do. Not to mention your anti virus program popping up during game play, or when Windows has a system update, and pulls you out of your game to tell you it is restarting the computer.

I love PC games personally, and I think the graphics, and sound are more involving than the console. First Person Shooter games, in my opinion, make the PC, and break the console. I have never been able to get as many head shots on a console as I do on the PC. Simply to me, the mouse is like, point and clickshot! The game pad is like, thumb, and move a little to the right, and a little up, oops, that was too far pushed the analog, and down a little, PRESS R2!

Lol... for me to add a little note... I play borderlands on my PS3, and I like to play as a sniper. If I could hook up my mouse to the PS3, and use it for borderlands, I would be a bad ass sniper. No matter how long I have played my PS3 for FPS games, I never can get the headshot I want from a PC.

Well, that was my rant... haha.

I have signed up on many social networking sites for gamers, and unless I am actively talking to, and making friends in those social sites, I get no new friend requests, from anyone on gaming sites.

Sure, I am active in this site, and making friends from people that joined this site, but other sites I signed up on, just to view their interface, I have never been social and thus, never gotten any friend requests from those sites.

Over 90% friend requests I would say, is when I am playing an online game, such as Demon's Souls, Little Big Planet, GTA, and other online games. If someone likes the way you play, they just send the request. Its probably better this way, to be honest, because at least you know that the person who added you, is playing, and owns the same game as you. Case closed =)

I love retro gaming, the same as any old school gamer, but if you can get roms and emulators for N64, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, ect... Why would I re-buy a game on the Wii, to play?...

I know it must be cool to be able to play old school games on your new system, and it makes sense, as long as Nintendo keeps a record of you buying that DLC, and never loses that record, so you always can download it onto another Wii in the future. That makes some sense to me.

If Nintendo makes something where you can only have DLC on a specific Wii, then we will not be happy, and I will stick to my emulators and roms.

For now, I don't own a Wii(wish I did), so I stick to my emulators and roms, until one day I get time and money. I am waiting for the newest installment for the Wii, to be honest. I am one of those next gen graphics type of people, so that is what delays my purchase of the Yellow, White, and Red, cable connection type of system at the moment.

I added this wiki, sorry, some people like details, hehe.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCA_connector

First off, lets start out with a movie from IGN.

I just started playing this game yesterday. At a certain point of the first of the game play. You actually have to die, because you face an epic demon that is way above your ability to destroy.

My experience with this game, is realizing how detailed it is. You actually have to guard with a shield, in the direction of your attacking foe, and if you are facing sideways, or your enemy contacts the side of your shield, you got sliced.

The first Demon I faced in the game killed me, but the second one was some kind of blob monster, that used its minions to shield it. Without its minions, you could easily hack that Demon to bits. This game also has dragons. You actually fight a dragon, as if you would in real life. Dragons are Epic strong, and can kill you easily, if you don't keep your eye on them.

Enemies have an extreme AI that track, follow you, and stalk you until they die trying, kill you, or you kill them. This game actually takes battle skill to face an enemy with a shield. You need to block, until your foe recoils from their blow to your shield, then strike them, while they are stunned. There are also traps, rolling stones, and fire you need to avoid. Enemies can ambush you from behind, jump down from a ledge to attack you and more. If you let your guard down for a second, that is when your foe can fell you.

Don't worry though, you are part of an online community from the beginning on your PSN. Other gamers leave messages to warn you, you see blood stains with a replay of someones death as a warning, and you can summon dead players souls to help you. Those summoned players are actually playing with you MMO style. And other players can decide to be a phantom, and hunt you down to kill you. Not to worry about phantoms, since you can summon your MMO ghost friends that have fallen in battle to aid you against phantoms. If you kill a Demon with your ghost friends, they can resurrect back to their own world as human again.

If you are killed by an MMO style phantom, (phantoms are online players trying to kill you) you become a ghost, and the phantom returns to their world as human again, alive. There is a lot of detail in this game, so I will link to a site that tells it better than I can. A very epic game in my opinion. I have not played a worthy game like this for many years.

(HTTP://) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon's_Souls - More detail here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon%27s_Souls
I had to (DO THIS) to the http, because it can't link right with that ' in the link.

Let me know how I can improve this site. I know this site is not the shiz, so it would be nice to know how to make it better.

Tell me straight out, because even if the truth hurts, it's worth it, if I can make this place more involved, or teach you guys something that could result in better site nav or things you wish we had...

As far as developing a program to monitor your game play, sad to say, I don't have those programming type of skills. So that would have to wait until we get more members and funding. The monitoring of PS3, Xbox, or Wii, I have never heard of. They keep updating those consoles, so developers can't hack those systems.

If you are curious about a full fledged chat system, we have one, but it is only 1 on 1, and it is located at the bottom of the site bar when you are logged in, you see --> Chat(1), If there is 1 online at the time. You can also visit the meebo chat menu at the top of the site, but if nobody is visiting that area, you are alone. You CAN embed that chat from our menu into myspace or somewhere they allow that, so that anyone that visits your profile, can chat with someone on this site, or anywhere you put it.

As far as adding game reviews, news and ratings, I decided to create a whole new website, called GamersPwn!. This new website of mine is not finished, so feel free to view my dry piece of work, lol. http://gamerspwn.com.

Any other questions, or maybe if I need to clarify anything on the site, let me know and I can make a tutorial, or add features.

If you have Xfire, put your gamercard in here, or is it called an activity signature, I am not sure.

You can embed your coding in here like this:

This is my ID for every PC game I play and how long I play those games. It's not accurate, because I have not run the program for Xfire every time I play, but when I am online, you can see this in my profile, or on these forums, with an "Online" label in it. And you can see what games I am playing, with the Xfire app. So if you want to chat or be friends, add me, and/ or add your Xfire coding in these forums.

Coding looks like this:

Simple, just copy this, and put your Xfire username in the fields, and post this code in here. It will look like the above image.

Visit the group and sign up, so others can find you in Xfire as well:
http://erebusonyx.com/group/xfire/

I created a game review on Squidoo. I will include a preview of this review here, but the real review will be there.

Preview:

The game starts off with a little movie, showing the struggles Kratos has had over the series. Every memorable moment in the game has been fed into this intro movie. You begin your journey riding on the Titan, Gia, Mother of Earth. You find out that the Titans have a different agenda than your own, after engaging in a gruesome battle with Poseidon, the God of the Sea.....

Link to Review on Squidoo:
http://www.squidoo.com/God-of-War-3-Game-Review
