This is going to be a long mo fo-ing bio about me, so GTFO while you still can, before your eyes fall out, catch on fire, or explode, lol.
When I was a kid, the first games I played on was on an Apple computer, with the green screen and floppy disks so big, you could use them as a dish for food, but they were floppy, so your food would fall off... Anyways, I played, I think it was dungeons and dragons, where you would create your characters, then traverse a 2D world of "Dungeons Only". This was a little mind numbing, so i didn't play that much on the Apple, or I was so young, I didn't know how.
My first gaming console was a Nintendo. My dad bought me that system, along with over 100 games over time. I had nearly every action, adventure, fantasy, ect. game you could think of, except sports games. I would rather play a sport than to play a sport on a video game. PC was not very popular at this time. I only knew a few DOS games that I liked, like Descent, Doom and Heretic.
My first hand held was the Game Boy (Old and first version). I actually still have that hand held, and it still works, lol. I had a few cartridges for that, and I still have those games from over 10 years ago, and they still work!
After a few years, My next console was the Sega Genesis, and shortly after that, the Super Nintendo. The graphics to me, was a major improvement, and although I liked that Mortal Kombat had good graphics, and blood(no blood on SNES version). I played my SNES more. I had so many fantasy games on the SNES. FF2, 3, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore and a grip more. That system really pulled me in. Then I got a Sega Game Gear, and that was my second hand held. Boy, I'll tell ya, that hand held sucked, even though you could get TV, and all of the other add ons for it, it made my eyes hurt, bad!
I started playing a few simple games on PC. Doom 2, Starcraft, Warcraft, ect... PC games were not quite my forte from the start, but I liked it.
The system I got after SNES was the N64. I think I remember that Sony came out with the first Playstation at that time, and Sega was history. I didn't want to buy a Playstation at the time, because I thought it was going to be another Sega Genesis, even though my friends said it was so awesome. I kept my N64, but didn't buy many games for it, unless you count Super Mario Kart, and Quest 64, God! That was an awful game. A few years after the N64, I got a GameCube. This time around, Nintendo was becoming less desirable to me, because Playstation 2 came around, and the graphics were better, and the games were more involved, and getting more detailed. Xbox was around, but I didn't want to buy an Xbox, because it was made by Microsoft, and those games would all come out for PC anyway, so I just didn't buy an Xbox. I would buy the PC game later, because PC games are upgradeable, and you can download levels, mods, ect., while Xbox games, are the way they are forever.
Before the new next gen systems came out, I had my PC. It had HD graphics, before HD came out on console, so I was playing my PC games hardcore until the new systems come out. Now I switch between the 2, PC, and console, or hand held.
Since the PS2 was good, when I heard about the PS3 coming out, my mouth watered. It seemed that, even though a lot of people wanted an Xbox 360 or Wii, I wanted to invest in the new PS3. I got the version that could play all my old school games, so I was totally stoked, and that is what sold me. Xbox 360, to me was the same as the Xbox, when they get done with a game, it shows up on PC, so why buy that system, when the PC will inherit it? Plus I heard the failure rate on Xbox 360 was really killing it for the owners, and they were switching to PS3. When the Wii came around, I had my family and kids, but my wife told me I had too many games already, and I thought the new controls were cool, but one thing didn't sit right with me about the Wii. They had a lot of games that focused on Wii nun chuck features, but not a lot of good content in the games. Granted, if you bought a Wii, you would check out reviews first, before you buy a gimmick type game, plus your common sense would tell you what kind of game to get.
At this time, I got a Game Boy Advance, to play games when I get early to work, and my wife got me a PSP for my birthday, which I would take to work, if I got early to work. Lol, man I am addicted.
The Wii, looked to me, like "Game Cube 2 with motion control and internet ability, with a cartoon avatar". Sorry if I offend anyone, but it didn't appeal to me at the time, and a friend of mine never played his Wii, and sold it for hundreds less, with the games and add ons, because he told me, that he never played it. He was on the PS3 all the time. So that really made me not want one. But recently, I have been hearing cool news about it, and I hear the games are getting more intense, but my wife would scold me with a flaming sword, if I bought a Wii now, even if it is for the kids. She tells me "you never play your Game Cube anymore, so why would you play the Wii?" I am silent, quietly wishing I could get one even more, since I am told I can't.
A reason for getting an Xbox 360 to me, is to play games like Halo, old and new, and a few games you can't play anywhere else. A reason for getting the Wii, for me, is to get some awesome motion control games. I would never re buy any old school game on the Wii, because I have ROMS and Emulators for all my old school games. I beat Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask, in my emulator. Awesome ending!
My Xbox 360 experience:
http://erebusonyx.com/forum/xbox-gamer-forums-12/i... So here I am, I have a PS3, PSP, GBA, Nintendo(with only Metroid as a playable game, because I sold the rest) And a PC that kicks butt, so I can play awesome PC games. I still want a Wii, and I have the same opinion about Xbox 360, as I did with the original, and that is that. Put your hanging eyes back in, or fire extinguish them, or pick up the exploded pieces, hahaha.
